Street Naming in Hallandale Beach

This month, we are highlighting a powerful moment of international solidarity from our partners at the City of Hallandale Beach. In a moving ceremony held this past week, city officials formally designated Southeast Fifth Street as “Sderot Way,” a tribute to their sister city in Israel and a testament to the enduring bond between these two resilient communities.
The street renaming serves as much more than a symbolic gesture; it is a public declaration of unity and support. Led by Hallandale Beach Mayor Joy Cooper, along with Sderot Mayor Alon Davidi and Deputy Mayor Hava Nachshonov, the dedication honors Sderot’s path toward recovery and renewal following the tragic events of October 7, 2023. By unveiling the new “Sderot Way” sign and a memorial marker at the intersection of Southeast Fifth Street and Fourth Avenue, Hallandale Beach has created a lasting landmark that celebrates shared values and mutual strength.
During the observance, local and visiting leaders reflected on the importance of standing together in times of crisis. Mayor Joy Cooper emphasized the city's unwavering commitment to its sister city, noting that Hallandale Beach will continue to show solidarity as Israel protects its homeland and rebuilds for the future.
